Advertising

Baclivelef is free to use, and we want to keep it that way. Running the site costs money, so in future we may display advertising or publish sponsored content. This page explains the rules we have set for ourselves so that advertising never gets in the way of our tools or compromises our editorial independence.

Current status

Baclivelef does not currently display any advertising, and no advertising scripts or cookies are loaded on the site. If we introduce advertising, we will update this page and our privacy policy before or at the time it goes live.

Display advertising: our rules

If we show display adverts in future, they will follow these rules:

• Clearly labelled. Every advert will sit in a space labelled “Advertisement” so it cannot be confused with our content.
• Never disguised. Adverts will never be styled to look like navigation, download buttons, tool controls, search results or editorial links.
• Kept away from tools. Adverts will not be placed inside our calculators, generators or planners, or next to their buttons and inputs, where they could be clicked by accident.
• No intrusive formats. No pop-ups, pop-unders, forced redirects, auto-playing video with sound, or adverts that cover the content you are trying to read.
• Stable layouts. Advert spaces will have reserved sizes so pages do not jump around as they load.
• Reasonable numbers. Content will always outweigh adverts on any page.
• Consent where required. Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies, we will ask for it before any are set.

If we use a network such as Google AdSense, adverts may be selected automatically by the network. We will use available controls to block categories that are inappropriate for our audience, but we do not endorse products or services shown in automated adverts.

Sponsored content

We may occasionally publish content paid for by a brand or organisation — for example, a guide sponsored by a music-technology company. Sponsored content will always follow these rules:

• It is clearly labelled “Sponsored” at the top of the page and wherever it is listed.
• It is relevant and useful to our readers, and meets the same standards of accuracy as our other content.
• It is never presented as an independent review or as the opinion of our editorial team.
• Sponsors do not get to review or change our independent coverage.

What we do not sell

• Reviews. We never accept payment for reviews or for a positive verdict.
• Editorial coverage. Features, artist profiles and news-style coverage cannot be bought.
• Playlist placements. We do not accept payment to include songs in any playlist we curate.
• Links in editorial content. We do not sell links inside our articles or guides.
• Tool results. No advertiser can influence how our calculators work or what they show.

Affiliate links

We do not currently use affiliate links. If we introduce them — for example, links to music software where we earn a small commission — we will disclose them clearly on the page where they appear, and they will never influence our recommendations.

Advertising and partnership enquiries

If you would like to discuss advertising, sponsorship or a partnership, please use our contact page and choose “Advertising or partnership” as the subject. Tell us about your organisation, what you have in mind and your timeline. We only work with brands whose products are relevant and appropriate for musicians, creators and music fans, and we may decline any proposal.
