How to Distribute Your Music to Spotify, Apple Music and Beyond
A distributor is how independent music reaches streaming services. Here is what they do, how to choose one and how to deliver a release without problems.
Artist profile

Wapendwa Muziki is a gospel act from Kenya. On its official YouTube channel the act describes itself as a gospel duo spreading God’s love through music and inspirational content, and it names its two members as Meshack Bongo Salim and Penina Wambui Wanjiku. The name combines the Swahili words for “beloved ones” and “music”.
The duo sings mainly in Swahili and releases music as a steady run of singles rather than albums. Its 2025 single “Bonge La Surprise” – roughly “a huge surprise” – drew a sharp rise in Google searches in Kenya, with interest also showing in Tanzania.
Wapendwa Muziki’s own releases on streaming services go back to 2021, and the duo also appears as a featured act on songs by other Kenyan artists, including Blakie Boy, Nimo Gachuiri and Son of Nations. Most of its recent singles carry a Beloved Productions credit.
The catalogue is built almost entirely from singles. Titles such as “Amefanya Mungu” (“God has done it”), “Mungu Ametenda” and “Yale Baba Umenifanyia” point to the thanksgiving and testimony themes that run through its work. Apple Music files most of these releases under Christian music, with a few listed as Afro-Beat.
“Bonge La Surprise” was released on 28 October 2025 and was followed by further singles in 2026, including “Kama Ndoto”, “Moyo” and “Sijawai Kumwona”.
Selected releases as listed on streaming services, checked September 2026.
Start with “Bonge La Surprise”, the single most people are searching for, then go back to “Amefanya Mungu” and “Yale Baba Umenifanyia” to hear the thanksgiving songs that sit at the centre of the duo’s catalogue. The official YouTube channel carries the visualisers and music videos.
