Who is Abongo Jakabwana?

On his official YouTube channel, Abongo Jakabwana describes himself as a modern Ohangla music artist. Ohangla is a drum-led musical tradition of the Luo people of western Kenya, and several of his song titles are in Dholuo, the Luo language. Apple Music, however, files “Digi Digi” under African Dancehall, so the song sits somewhere between how the artist presents himself and how the platform categorises it.

About the title

We have found no official explanation of the title “Digi Digi” from the artist or his label, and we have not confirmed which language or languages the song is sung in, so we are not offering an interpretation.

Why people are searching for it

In September 2026 we studied Google Trends data for the previous 12 months, looking at the related queries that appear alongside searches for MP3 and audio downloads in each country. In Kenya, the related queries containing “Digi Digi” showed rises of between roughly +1,850% and +3,100%, depending on the query.

Those percentages compare search interest in a query during the chosen period with the period before it. A large figure can come from a very small starting point, so it shows how quickly curiosity grew, not how many people searched in total, and it says nothing about how good a song is. Google Trends reserves its Breakout label for related searches that grow by more than 5,000% over the period; the “Digi Digi” queries we saw grew quickly, but stayed below that threshold.

The official music video on the artist’s YouTube channel showed about 19.9 million views when we checked on 22 September 2026.

Abongo Jakabwana’s releases on streaming services begin with the EP Promise of Love in 2023, followed by the EPs Auma (2024) and Nyaimbo (2025). “Digi Digi” arrived after those three projects, and Apple Music now lists it as his top track. He has kept releasing steadily since: “Slim Nyar Awendo” followed later in 2025, then the Petite EP and the singles “Odhis Jase” and “Paulina” in 2026.
