Who is behind it
Kapeke’s official YouTube channel, which uses the handle @badboykapeke, describes him as a young Ugandan rapper. The channel also carries the name NBG, short for “No Belt Gang”, and most of his releases carry an NBG copyright line. His releases on streaming services go back to 2021, and they include the 2023 EP Vision2024 and a run of singles. You can read more on our Kapeke artist page.
He is not an unknown name in Uganda. At Galaxy FM’s Zzina Awards 2025–2026, announced in February 2026, he was named Artist of the Year, Best Male Artist and Best LugaFlow/Rap Artist. Lugaflow is the name used in Uganda for rap in Luganda. His earlier 2025 single “Kaba” won Song of the Year and Best LugaFlow/Rap Song. “Simanyi” was not among the nominees.
What the title means
“Simanyi” is a Luganda title. We have not found a reliable source that explains what it means in this song, so we are not offering a translation here. We will add one if the artist or a reliable source explains it.
Why people are searching for it
In our September 2026 research we looked at Google Trends data for Uganda over the past 12 months, focusing on the related queries that appear alongside searches for MP3 and audio downloads. Many of the Ugandan queries took the form “song by artist mp3 download”. “Simanyi” by Kapeke appeared as a Breakout query.
“Breakout” is a label Google Trends gives to a related query whose search interest grew by more than 5,000% over the chosen period. It usually means that very few people searched for the phrase at the start of the period. It tells you how quickly interest grew, not how many searches there were in total. It is also no guide to what the song sounds like or how good it is.
Outside chord sites and streaming listings, we found no editorial coverage of “Simanyi” itself. Many of the download searches lead to sites that host music without the artist’s permission. We do not link to them. The official options are listed below.
Where it fits in the catalogue
Apple Music files most of Kapeke’s catalogue under Hip-Hop/Rap, but lists “Simanyi” under Modern Dancehall. It followed “Setting”, featuring Karole Kasita, and “Kaba” earlier in 2025. A month later he appeared on Feffe Bussi’s “Nzalina” with Winnie Nwagi, Spice Diana and Dax Vibez. His 2026 releases include “Gundi II” with Mimi Kampala, “London” and “A.K”. If you want to hear the song in context, start with “Kaba”, then go back to the Vision2024 EP.
