Who is behind it
Nelson Tivane’s official YouTube channel introduces him as a Mozambican singer, songwriter and composer whose sound has earned him collaborations with some of Africa’s biggest names. Before his recent solo run he appeared as a guest on other artists’ records, including the 2021 “Yaba Buluku (Remix)” by DJ Tarico and Burna Boy, which features him alongside Preck. Streaming services credit “Mama’s Baby” to Nelson Tivane and Makhadzi Entertainment, which is the label the South African singer Makhadzi set up in 2023. Apple Music’s credits name two songwriters: Nelson Dinis Uqueio, who is also credited on vocals, and Ndivhudzannyi Decorate Ralivhona — a name that matches the birth name Wikipedia gives for Makhadzi, Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona. The listings do not say who else the Makhadzi Entertainment credit covers, so we have not guessed. Production is credited to BIVER WATE, with Kadu Grove Beatz as co-producer and engineer.
About the title
We have found no explanation of the title “Mama’s Baby” published by Nelson Tivane or his label, and we have not confirmed which language or languages the song is sung in, so we are not offering an interpretation.
Why people are searching for it
In September 2026 we studied Google Trends data for the previous 12 months, looking at the related queries that appear alongside searches for MP3 and audio downloads in each country. In Mozambique, “Mama’s Baby” was recorded as a Breakout related query.
Google Trends uses the Breakout label when a related search grows by more than 5,000% over the chosen period, usually because very few people searched for it at the start. It measures how fast interest grew, not how many searches there were in total, and it says nothing about how good a song is.
