Who is Pawaboy AB?
On his official YouTube channel, Pawaboy AB gives his name as Kasule Abdulrashid and describes himself as a singer, songwriter, dancer, choreographer and actor from Kampala. The channel says he was formerly signed to Daddy Records, a label owned by Daddy Andre; Apple Music shows a Daddy Records rights line on his 2023 single “Tuli 5 & 6”. The name on his channel matches the Abdurashid Kasule credited as songwriter on “Yandalula”.
His releases on streaming services go back to June 2022 and are almost all one-track singles. You can read more on our Pawaboy AB artist page.
About the title
“Yandalula” is a Luganda title. No official explanation of it has been published, and we have not found a reliable source that explains what it means, so we are not offering a translation here. We will add one if the artist or a reliable source explains it.
Why people are searching for it
In September 2026 we studied Google Trends data for the previous 12 months, looking at the related queries that appear alongside searches for MP3 and audio downloads in each country. Most of the Ugandan related queries took the form “song by artist mp3 download”. The query we recorded here was “Yandalula”, and in Uganda it rose by about 550–700% over the period.
That figure is a relative change, not a count of people. A song that starts from very few searches can post a large percentage. Google Trends reserves its Breakout label for a related query that grows by more than 5,000% over the chosen period, so “Yandalula” sits well below that mark. Either way, the figure measures how fast interest grew, not how many searches there were in total, and it says nothing about how good a song is.

The award nominations
Galaxy FM, a radio station in Kampala, runs its own annual Zzina Awards. In the nominee list it published on 21 January 2026 for the Zzina Awards 2025–2026, “Yandalula” was one of twelve nominees for Best Contemporary Urban Song, and Pawaboy AB was one of five nominees for Breakthrough Artist.
Neither nomination won: in the winners Galaxy FM published on 12 February 2026, Best Contemporary Urban Song went to Joshua Baraka and Jae5’s “Wrong Places” and Breakthrough Artist to Tracy Melon. These are one radio station’s own awards, voted for on its website, rather than an industry-wide prize. Apart from that awards list, we found no press coverage of the song.
Where it fits in the catalogue
Pawaboy AB’s first releases on streaming services, “Mwoto Fire” and “Emergency (Musawo)”, came out on the same day in June 2022. “Yoono” and “Wayitirila” followed in 2024, each later joined by acoustic and instrumental versions, and “Ngusobola”, “Heartbreak” and “Hunter” came out between December 2024 and May 2025.
“Yandalula” was his first single with a 2Star Studios rights line, and the same credit appears on “My Bebe” (October 2025) and “Nalokinga” (February 2026). His 2026 releases, most of them now carrying a Pawaboy music rights line, include “Ntwala”, “Weetya” and “Ntaawa” featuring Ava Peace. If you want to hear the song in context, go back to “Yoono”.
