Spotlight: Refiller Boy’s “Magwendere”

No producer is listed on the Apple Music song page, and no featured artist is credited anywhere we checked.

Who is Refiller Boy?

Refiller Boy is a singer whose music is on Spotify, Apple Music and Audiomack. None of those profiles say where he is from or where he is based: his Audiomack page is a distributor-delivered profile with no bio, location or social links filled in, and neither streaming service carries an artist biography.

Two things point towards Mozambique. The first is his song titles, which repeatedly name Mozambican places and politics: “Fuma Frelimo” (Frelimo is Mozambique’s governing party), “Camiseta do Chapo” (Daniel Chapo became President of Mozambique in January 2025), “Gomati Moçambique É Nosso”, “Namaacha”, after the border town, and “Vilankulo Minha Terra”. The second is that “Magwendere” trended in Mozambique specifically. The only direct statement about his origin that we found came from a social media post by a download platform, which is not a source we treat as reliable. Until an official source says otherwise, we describe his country as unconfirmed.

There is also no artist-run YouTube channel that we could find. The channel that does exist, “Refiller Boy - Topic”, is one YouTube generates automatically from a distributor’s delivery — its uploads all carry the line “Provided to YouTube by ONErpm” — so it is not somewhere the artist speaks for himself.

You may see “Magwendere” described as marrabenta on YouTube uploads and Mozambican music blogs. Those uploads are not from an account we could confirm as his, so we are not using that label. The only genre tags we can cite are Apple Music’s “Dance” and Audiomack’s “Electronic”.

About the title

We have not found an official explanation of the title “Magwendere”, and we have not confirmed which language it is in. Translations circulating on download and lyrics sites are not sources we use, so we are not offering one.

Why people are searching for it

In September 2026 we studied Google Trends data for the previous 12 months, looking at the related queries that appear alongside download-related searches in each country: “mp3” in the Music category, plus “mp3 download”, “download mp3” and “audio download”, and in Lusophone markets “baixar música”. In Mozambique, “Magwendere” appeared as a Breakout related query.

Google Trends uses the Breakout label instead of a percentage when a related search grows by more than 5,000% over the chosen period, which usually means almost nobody was searching for it before. It measures how fast interest grew, not how many searches there were in total, and it says nothing about how good a song is.

Beyond streaming listings and chord sites we found no press coverage of the song, which is one reason we wanted to write about it. We make no claims about streams, sales or chart positions. Many search results for the song lead to unofficial download sites. We do not link to them. The official options are listed below.

Where it fits in the catalogue

The earliest release on his streaming profiles is “Timhaka”, which Apple Music dates to 2013, but most of the catalogue is recent. Audiomack dates “Kuta Cina Na Valoyi” to 13 December 2022. In 2025 he put out two nine-track compilations, The Best of Refiller Boy (March) and The Best of Refiller Boy 2 (April), as well as the singles “Fuma Frelimo” (March) and “Camiseta do Chapo” (November), before closing the year with “Magwendere” on 30 December.

He has kept releasing in 2026: “Viva Mandziro Khossa” in January, “Hinkwaswo Swiri Papa” in February — which Apple Music credits to Refiller Boy and Rupu Rupu — “Vilankulo Minha Terra” with Elias Buene in June, and “Aleluia” in July. Each of those singles carries a different rights line, from Wavvy Rhythms and MATRIX WAVE to SOUND POOL and saint villas, which is a common pattern for artists releasing through several small labels or distribution services.
