“Magwendere” is a single by Refiller Boy, released on 30 December 2025. It appeared in our September 2026 research as a fast-growing music search in Mozambique, and the artist is very likely Mozambican, although we have not been able to confirm that from an official source. This spotlight sets out what we could verify, what we could not, and how to listen officially.

Neither Spotify nor Apple Music showed songwriter or producer credits when we checked, and no featured artist is credited.
Who is behind it
Refiller Boy is a singer whose music is on Spotify and Apple Music. His streaming profiles do not say where he is from or where he is based. Several of his song titles refer to Mozambican public life, and “Magwendere” trended in Mozambique, so Mozambique is the likeliest answer. The only direct statement about his origin that we found came from a social media post by a download platform, which we do not treat as a reliable source. Until we can confirm it, we describe his country as unconfirmed.
You may see “Magwendere” described as marrabenta on some YouTube uploads. Those uploads are not from an account we could confirm as his, so we are not using that label. The only genre tag we can cite is Apple Music’s “Dance”.
Why people are searching for it
We used Google Trends to look at searches in Mozambique over the 12 months to September 2026. Among the related queries for music and download-related searches, “Magwendere” was marked as a “Breakout”. Google shows that label instead of a percentage when searches for a term have grown by more than 5,000%, which usually means almost nobody was searching for it before. Put simply, a lot more people started looking for this song by name after its release.
That is a measure of interest, not of streams or sales, and we make no claims about chart positions or play counts. Beyond streaming listings and chord sites, we did not find any press coverage of the song, which is one reason we wanted to write about it. Where it fits in the catalogue
The earliest release on his streaming profiles is “Timhaka”, a single dated 2013, but most of the catalogue is recent. “Kuta Cina Na Valoyi” followed in 2022. In 2025 he put out two compilations, The Best of Refiller Boy and The Best of Refiller Boy 2, as well as the singles “Fuma Frelimo” and “Camiseta do Chapo”, before closing the year with “Magwendere”.
He has kept releasing in 2026, with “Viva Mandziro Khossa” and “Hinkwaswo Swiri Papa”; Audiomack credits RUPU RUPU as a guest on the latter. If “Magwendere” is your starting point, the two Best of compilations are the easiest way to hear his earlier songs.
